New York City Congenital Heart Walk

Our son Everett was born with a congenital heart disease called Aortic Stenosis. Everett's disease was found in utero. He was born at 36 weeks, received a lifesaving procedure in his first hours of life and an open heart surgery 12 days later. Everett is now doing well, but will most likely need more surgeries throughout his lifetime.

We spent the first month of Everett's life in the NICU. When we finally got home, we were welcomed by a HOSPITAL BILL of over 1.2 million dollars! While the money was worth every cent to save our sweet boy, and while we were fortunate enough to have two insurances that helped to cover most (...not all! ) of the bill, I couldn't help to imagine how families without the resources could ever afford that cost.

Foundations like the CHF help to support families dealing with both the emotional and financial struggles that come with a child who has this disease.

It's not just a walk; it's a stride toward years of hope! Every step we take is one step in supporting The Children's Heart Foundation's crucial mission—advancing the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of congenital heart defects through groundbreaking research that improves survival rates, reduces complications, and helps Heart Warriors celebrate more birthdays than ever before!!
