PARKING AND TRANSPORTATION

The Walk will be held on the Promenade Of Industry near the Fountain of Planets with lots of accessible options to travel to us!
- Subway: Take the 7 train to Mets-Willets Point. The 7 train provides service from several stops, including Grand Central Terminal to Mets-Willets Point Station and connections for all Metro-North Trains from Westchester and Connecticut. Service is also available from the Port Authority Bus Terminal.
- Long Island Railroad: LIRR provides easy service to Mets-Willets Point Station from Woodside, and convenient connections from Penn Station for New Jersey Transit customers. For guests with disabilities, get off the LIRR train at 61st Street-Woodside Station and transfer to the 7 train. Take the 7 train to Mets-Willets Point Station.
- There are busses that also stop at the park, check the MTA website for more details.
- The MTA website, mta.info, provides complete schedules and information about the most convenient ways to get to the Park.
- By Car: The best address to use is the Aquatics Center Address in GPS - 131-04 Meridian Rd, Queens, NY 11368.
- If traveling eastbound (Brooklyn, Queens), take the Grand Central Parkway to College Point Blvd Exit 10W-E, and follow to Meridian Road.
- If Traveling from North, Take I678-Van Wick Expressway South to Exit 12A for College Point Blvd and follow to Meridian Road.
- If coming from Long Island, take Long Island Expressway Exit 22B – toward College Point Blvd to Meridian Road.
- Parking: There are several places to park, and the largest lot can be found by plugging in the address for the Aquatics Center in your GPS - 131-04 Meridian Rd, Queens, NY 11368 and parking nearby in the big lot under the Van Wick Expressway off of Meridian Road. If parking there, there are several paths that lead to the Promenade of Industry – follow those until you see The Children’s Heart Foundation’s Mission Village.
HEART ANGEL REMEMBRANCE
Heart Angel families are invited to bring a photo or other remembrance for display in our Peace and Memorial area; materials to leave messages will also be available. <3
EVENT IS RAIN OR SHINE!
The Walk will be held rain or shine! Please dress for the weather and bring layers in case of cooler morning temperatures.
OUR TOP 3 TEAMS!
Our top 3 teams will receive their own team tents! This tent will include a table and chairs and can be used as a meeting area for your team throughout the event. We appreciate all of your fundraising efforts!! The 3 top team captains will be notified at 7pm via email on September 26th.
HEART WARRIOR/ANGEL SIGNS
If you purchased a Heart Warrior or Heart Angel sign, you are welcome to take it home as a keepsake after the walk! Please remember to come to the registration area to pick up your sign by 1pm to get your heart sign.
REGISTRATION
- Please kindly inform your friends and family that donating to our cause (or to your team) does not automatically enroll them for the walk. Official registration is required to participate in the walk day festivities.
- Registration, along with our event site and activities, will open at 10:00 AM. We recommend arriving when registration opens at 10:00 AM to enjoy all of our fun activities! We also ask everyone to arrive prior to 10:50 AM and check in at the registration area.
- Registration is required for all participants ages 2 and up. Making sure that all your team members are pre-registered online will help to speed up the check-in process.
- To check in, you can simply provide your name to a check-in volunteer.
- If you are registered online, we will check you in, we’ll accept any donations that you may have to turn in (Cash, Check, or Credit Card), and direct you to pick up your walk t-shirt if you have raised over $100 as an INDIVIDUAL. (If you have earned a higher level incentive based on your individual giving, you will receive an e-mail approximately 4 weeks after our event to claim your fundraising reward and can continue to fundraise until the deadline to qualify for your preferred incentive item!).
- If someone has not registered online in advance, they will be asked to complete a paper registration form and sign our event waiver. Save time on walk day and register your team today.
- After check-in/registration, ENJOY some fun activities!
ACTIVITIES WILL INCLUDE:
- Dance to tunes by our DJ
- Visit the adorable Teddy Bear Hospital tent - an initiative from NYIT College of Osteopathic Medicine that creates a nurturing environment where children learn about healthcare through imaginative play while building positive associations with medical care
- Stop by the FDNY Fire Safety Table
- Meet the horses and canines protecting NYC with the NYPD Mounted and K-9 Unit
- Enjoy some fun crafts and brighten a child’s day by creating a handmade Get Well Card
- Get your face painted in fabulous colors and try your luck at some carnival games
- Meet and greet Mr. Met, the official mascot of the New York Mets!
- Hear medical remarks and from heart families in the NYC CHD Community
- Visit the NY Hall of Science Vendor Table, and then after the Walk, visit the Hall of Science (enjoy 20% off admission with promo code: CHF2025 from 9/26-9/28) AND, enjoy everything else the park has to offer which also includes the Queens Zoo, Queens Museum, Botanical Gardens, and more
- A heartwarming, family-friendly one-mile walk around the iconic Unisphere to remember heart angels and celebrate heart warriors with NYC's CHD Community while making a real impact by raising critical dollars for CHD research
We will begin our walk program from the stage at approximately 11:00 AM and will ask everyone to gather there to remember our heart angels, celebrate our heart warriors and hear about how your efforts are making a big difference in CDH research. Please note, we will have light refreshments and water but please feel free to bring your own snacks or lunch to picnic with your group after the event!
EVENT NOTES
- Friendly dogs on leash are allowed at the park! If you decide to bring your pet, please keep them leashed at all times (6 foot leash) and please clean up after him/her.
- There will be a garbage receptacles available throughout the park. Please help keep the park clean!
- Public restrooms will be available for use.
- Arrive during the one-hour registration window
