This year, I'm walking with extra purpose as The Children's Heart Foundation celebrates 30 incredible years of funding research that saves lives and changes futures.
This event is very close to my heart as my nephew Charlie was born with a complex congenital heart defect. He has already undergone two open heart surgeries, three hospital stays, and countless EKGs, Echocardiograms and assorted doctors’ appointments and evaluations in his short life. He is thriving now with no limitations and preparing to finish fourth grade. The success of his procedures is due in large part to his fighting spirit. And it is also due to the incredible team at Lurie Children's Hospital and the research supported by the Children's Heart Foundation.
It's not just a walk; it's a stride toward the next 30 years of hope. This endeavor is all about supporting The Children's Heart Foundation's crucial mission—advancing the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of congenital heart defects through groundbreaking research that improves survival rates, reduces complications, and helps Heart Warriors celebrate more birthdays than ever before.
