Congenital heart disease (CHD) has impacted our family in ways we never could have imagined. Three of the people we love most have been born with congenital heart defects: my sister, Bailee, my niece, Bentley, and my sweet son, Owen.

Bailee was born with hypoplastic right heart syndrome (HRHS) and has undergone three major open-heart surgeries. My niece, Bentley, has also endured multiple major heart surgeries and continues to face the lifelong challenges of CHD with incredible strength and resilience.

In 2025, our son Owen was diagnosed during pregnancy with an extremely complex congenital heart defect. After seven precious days, we said goodbye to our sweet boy. Losing him changed our lives forever.

Our family’s CHD journey has been filled with fear, hope, surgeries, loss, and resilience. It has also left us asking the same question: How can we help create a better future for other families?

That’s why we created Making Waves for Owen.

We walk to honor Owen’s life, celebrate the incredible strength of Bailee, Owen, and Bentley, and support research that gives more children with congenital heart disease the opportunity to celebrate birthdays, graduations, and the everyday moments every family dreams of.
