Jelani is my first Grandchild, and shes a very specail little girl. She came into the world on 1/6/23 and has been lighting it up since. Her mom and dad were told at her 20 week Ultrasound there was an issue with her heart, and Scared was un understatement. After many ultrasounds and Echo's and testing between NH Pediatric Cardiologists and Boston Childrens Hospital, she was diagnosed with HLHS, Hyperplastic Left heart Syndrome. We knew nothing about this diagnosis, never even heard of HLHS before Jelani. She's 1 in 100! I made a promise to her on 1/6/23 that i will be her voice and advocate unrtil my last breath, and i plan to keep this promise. She tough, she's strong, resiliant, and she's the true definition of a heart warrior and im honored to be her grandmother. She spent the first 83 days of life in the hospital, born just over 5lbs she's had two open heart surgeries with her third in a few years, she's been on ventialors, has had 2 heart cathetors, PDA shunts, a collapsed lung, many many tests and blood work, IV's and Echos, and feeding tubes, So needless to say, its been a very tough and emotional year to watch this tiny little girl go through all she has. But she has defyed all of it and come out strong!!! You wouldnt know all that she has been through just by looking at her. She has a fight in her that runs deep, and we are going to keep fighting right along with her through all of it, forever. She's our reason why. We are forever grateful for Childrens Heart Foundation, for the knowledge, resources and oppurtunity to help in anyway we can for these kids born with CHD, Today, tomorrow and forever.
