We are participating in the Children’s Congenital Heart Walk this year in honor of Penelope.

Penelope was born with a congenital heart condition known as a bicuspid aortic valve, which means one of her heart valves formed differently and is narrower than normal. As a result, her heart must work harder, and she requires ongoing monitoring and specialized care. Penelope is funny, smart, and incredibly sweet, always quick to make others laugh and brighten any room she walks into. She loves Irish dancing, singing karaoke, participating in school activities, and spending time with her family and friends. Whether she’s dancing, laughing, or simply being herself, she brings so much joy and light into our lives.

Our team is walking with purpose this year, celebrating 30 incredible years of The Children’s Heart Foundation funding research that saves lives. Every 15 minutes in the United States, a baby is born with a congenital heart defect, making congenital heart defects the most common birth defect in our country. For three decades, The Children’s Heart Foundation has played a vital role in advancing treatments and surgical care, helping countless children not only survive, but thrive.

The Congenital Heart Walk is dedicated to continuing this important work. Its mission is to support The Children’s Heart Foundation’s efforts to advance the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of congenital heart defects through groundbreaking research that improves outcomes, reduces complications, and helps heart warriors live longer, healthier lives.

This cause is deeply meaningful to our family. We did not expect to be part of the congenital heart community, but it has shown us the strength of these children and the importance of continued research and support.
