Chicago Congenital Heart Walk

Jazlyn has a LIFETIME heart condition that has no "cure!"

Jazlyn was diagnosed with right ventricular hypoplasia and tricuspid valve atresia.

At 1 day of age, Jaz had her first procedure, intubation and a cardiac catherization. At the tender age of 2 days, Jaz would have her first open heart surgery, the BT Shunt placement.

After the initial shunt placement of our Jaz suffered from a severe stroke due to clotting. As a result, our WARRIOR was put on life support / ECMO for 5 long days and had to have her 2nd open heart surgery for the revision of her shunt.

At 5 months of age, she had her 3rd open heart surgery, the bidirectional Glenn, second phase of surgeries.  

In 2020, during the pandemic, Jaz had her 4th open heart surgery, the Fontan, the 3rd phase of surgeries. 

Jazzie is now 7 years old and continues thrive, grow, and mature. She is completing 1^st grade and enjoys dance, gymnastics, and theater.
