This year, we’re walking for someone who hasn’t even taken his first breath — but has already taken up our whole hearts.

Our baby boy, Owen, is due to arrive this September. At our 20-week ultrasound, we learned that he has a rare and complex congenital heart defect called Right Atrial Isomerism (RAI). It wasn’t news any parent expects to hear, and it’s brought with it a lot of uncertainty — but also an overwhelming amount of love, strength, and hope.

After he’s born, Owen will be cared for by the amazing Single Ventricle Team at Lurie Children’s Hospital, where his journey will begin. We don’t have all the answers yet, but what we do have is an incredible community around us — our family, our friends, and a medical team we trust with our whole hearts.

We’re walking to honor Owen’s brave little heart, raise awareness, and support other families on this journey. Thank you for standing with us, for believing in our boy, and for helping us carry hope into the days ahead.
