My second daughter, Hannah, was born on June 2nd, 2022. I had the perfect pregnancy and delivery. When the nurse took Hannah to give her a bath and check her vitals, they knew something was wrong. Hannah's oxygen was too low. We were quickly transferred from Huntley to Lurie Children's. Hannah was diagnosed with Tetralogy of Fallot with Pulmonary Atresia and MAPCAS. After two open heart surgeries to place shunts and help Hannah grow, we flew to California for Hannah to have her Total Repair Surgery. The day before this walk, June 7th, is the one year anniversary of Hannah's lifesaving surgery. Words can never describe how our lives have been changed and the emotions we've felt. Believe me when I say we could not have done this alone. It is only because of the generosity and kindness of others that we've been able to get though this. Now, it's our turn to give back.
My commitment to making a difference has led me to participate in the Congenital Heart Walk, an event that carries immense significance for me. It's not just a walk; it's a stride toward changing lives. This endeavor is all about supporting The Children's Heart Foundation and their crucial mission - advancing the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of congenital heart defects through groundbreaking research.
