Every 15 minutes in the United States, a baby is born with a congenital heart defect (CHD), the most common birth defect. Our son, Caden, is one of them. Born with Heterotaxy Syndrome and multiple heart defects, he had his first open-heart surgery at six months old. In his first year, he spent three months in the hospital and endured ECMO, cardioversion (“heart shocks”), multiple caths, a stent insertion, and a VSD closure, along with a G-tube. He’s been to hundreds of doctor and therapy appointments and has worked through physical delays and feeding challenges. At just 20 months, he has faced more than many do in a lifetime.

And yet, Caden teaches us to cherish each day and push through the hard moments. He fills our hearts with joy and love. As he nears two, we can’t get enough of his big belly laughs, his drive to learn new things, his love for books and music, and his crazy toddler adventures. 

We are teaming up to support the Congenital Heart Walk and making a difference for the 2nd year in a row. The mission is clear - raise funds to support The Children's Heart Foundation in its quest to advance the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of CHDs by funding groundbreaking research.
