At 19 weeks pregnant, we received the life-changing news that our daughter, Makenna, had a congenital heart defect called Transposition of the Great Arteries (TGA). This condition means the two main arteries leaving her heart were reversed, requiring surgical correction shortly after birth.

On February 25th, when she was just 5 days old, Makenna underwent open heart surgery — an arterial switch operation— to repair her heart. Thanks to the incredible team in the pediatric cardiac ICU, and 23 challenging days in the hospital, Makenna was finally able to come home.

Now, at 6 months old, Makenna is thriving! She’s meeting all developmental milestones, growing stronger every day, and her heart is doing great! While we continue to monitor her development and cardiac health closely, we are endlessly proud of how far she has come.

This endeavor is all about supporting The Children's Heart Foundation and their crucial mission - advancing the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of congenital heart defects through groundbreaking research.
