Help Austin Fight for Every Heartbeat

Our son Austin came into this world with a warrior’s spirit—and he needed it from the very beginning. Born premature and with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome (HLHS), a severe congenital heart defect, the left side of Austin’s heart never developed. At just days old, he was fighting for his life in the Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (PCICU), where he spent the first five months of his life.

Since then, Austin has endured four lifesaving open-heart surgeries, one major stomach surgery, and countless tests and procedures. His resilience is nothing short of extraordinary. And yet, his journey is far from over. In the coming months, Austin will undergo another heart catheterization—just one of many interventions he’ll face throughout his life. Because with CHD, there is no cure. Only the hope that tomorrow’s medicine will be gentler, smarter, and more effective.
