I want to express my heartfelt thanks for taking a moment to visit my fundraising page.
As you may already know, I was born with a heart defect. Mine is called subaortic valve stenosis. My first open heart surgery was in December, 1988. I was 8 years old. One very clear memory I have of that morning was in the pre-op room. I was laying in a bed on wheels in a large, sterile room with rows of other beds on wheels, each holding their own kid and surrounded by loved ones anxiously waiting. My parents pointed out to me the boy next to me was 3 years old and had already experienced 3 open heart surgeries in his short life. I remember thinking that if that 3 year old can do it, I can certainly do it! I wonder where that 3 year old boy is now...
Looking back at the number of medical advancements and the difference between what 'state-of-the-art' in the late 80's referred to and what it means now is almost beyond comprehension. I remember when echocardiograms were new to the pediatric world and I STILL think it's cool to see my carefully mended heart on a screen. Hearing about the copious research that is being done in finding solutions to what would have been a death sentence just a few years ago blows my mind.
That's where The Children's Heart Foundation comes in. All of the profits received go to advance the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of congenital heart defects through groundbreaking research. I want to assist in the continued research of congenital heart defects so that our future heart warriors can also lead a healthy, active, and fulfilling life.
I warmly invite you to become a part of this journey by supporting my fundraising efforts. Together, we can raise the funds essential to drive forward life-saving research. Your contribution holds immeasurable value to me.
Thank you for your generosity, and for standing beside me in this mission. Your support warms my heart. (no pun intended)
With Love,
Tricia
