My Why

I want to express my heartfelt thanks for taking a moment to visit my fundraising page.

Why am I participating in the STL CHD Walk?

My Why is very personal. My grandson Jensen was born in 2022 with a Complex Congenital Heart Defect. Our family was thrust into the CHD world with a phone call following a 20 week gestation anatomy scan showing a severe heart defect. My daughter and son-in-law had no knowledge of the medical world but quickly became experts and advocates. Jensen spent months in the SLCH CICU/TCICU where he had OHS, Cardiac Caths, and hundreds of echos, IVs, intubations, NG/JG tubes, lab draws, x-rays, doctors/nurses/therapists/etc. The heart community is awesome and helped us so much. But they need help! They need money to continue striving for a cure and developing innovative treatment plans. Jensen is a happy 2 year old heart warrior! Without the heart center, he wouldn't be here today. And for that we will forever be grateful and help fundraise to help others as well.
