Pittsburgh Congenital Heart Walk

Please join Amelia, Jett and Myself as we participate in the walk for The Childrens Heart Foundation. At just 8 weeks old we took Amelia to the emergency room for what we thought was severe dehydration. Unfortunetly it turned out to be much worse, she was in heart failure. If we would've waited any longer we could have lost our baby. Instead childrens hospital had the knowledge to recognize that her breathing pattern was abnormal and went striaght to work. She was diagnosed with a heart defect called Dilated Cardiomyopathy. She underwent two open heart surgies, one to insert the LVAD and one to successfully remove it. During her hospital stay blood clots formed resulting in two strokes and multiple seizures. She also had surgery to have a Gtube placed. God willing we were discharged from the hospital 75 days later and she has been thriving ever since she came home. Amelia was also listed on the transplant list for 6 months but to our surprise and the doctors she conquered through. As of today Amelia has been removed from the transplant list, is Gtube free, and no longer having seizures!! Although she is no longer on the transplant list we do not have a given answer on if or when that day will ever come. Her battle is far from over but we pray as parents that we can give her the life that she deserves, full of love and laughter, even during the hardest days.
