Our commitment to making a difference has led us to participate in the Congenital Heart Walk, an event that carries immense significance for me. It's not just a walk; it's a stride toward changing lives. This endeavor is all about supporting The Children's Heart Foundation and their crucial mission - advancing the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of congenital heart defects through groundbreaking research. 

Our family found out about Myles' TGA diagnosis at our 20-week anatomy scan. Transposition of the Greater Arteries is just one of hundreds of heart defects but this specific one affects about 1 in every 3,00-5,000 births. Because of the diligence, knowledge and efforts from the wonderful medical staff in PIttsburgh, we were able to prepare for his arrival and the challenges we would be faced with. We are walking to support future families and to ensure they all have this same awareness to prepare for such a life changing event. 

Myles had open heart surgery on Day 7 at UPMC Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh. The arterial switch procedure saved his life. After a 39-day hospital stay, he was cleared to come home. We cannot express our love and appriciation to every single person that was and still is part of Myles' medical team during our stay. To all of the doctors, nurses, therapists and caretakers to spent endless hours making sure he was getting the best care. To the greeting staff who always had a smiling face and made a not-so-fun place, a little brighter. To all of our family and friends who were supportive to our family in every way possible. We thank all of you from the bottom of our hearts.
