Our son Everett was life flighted to Children's Hospital on April 18th. Upon his arrival, they discovered he had a coarctation of the aorta, a hole in his heart, left ventricle dysfunction as well as another smaller narrowing at the top of his aorta. His coarctation repair was successful on April 21st and we are happy to say he is home with us. However, we are not out of the woods. There is possibility of another surgery and his heart is still functioning in the moderate to severe range.
Had we not had an appointment at his pediatrician that morning, we would have been too late. We are walking in hopes to educate other parents on the signs, promote more testing to be done during gestation and allow Everett's Echo to be heard so others don't end up being too late.
