Nothing prepares you for being told that your newborn will need open-heart surgery. From the very beginning, Alexander’s life has been filled with challenges that no family should ever have to face.
Alexander was born with d-TGA (Transposition of the Great Arteries) and VSD (Ventricular Septal Defect). Just five days after he was born, my tiny baby was placed in the hands of surgeons and underwent open-heart surgery. Handing my newborn over for such a major operation was the hardest thing I have ever done.
Those early days were filled with fear and faith. We lived in the NICU, surrounded by monitors, wires, and alarms — enduring countless echocardiograms, blood draws, procedures, and long nights of waiting and praying. Watching my son go through so much at such a young age changed me forever.
Today, Alexander is doing amazing. He is strong, resilient, and full of life. After everything he has been through, he is the happiest little boy — always smiling, always joyful, and always reminding me how powerful hope truly is. His strength is nothing short of a miracle.
Alexander’s journey is a testament to perseverance, faith, and God’s goodness. God is good, and I am endlessly grateful for every doctor, nurse, prayer, and act of support that carried us through the hardest days.
