We're raising money because when and whether new life-saving technologies become available for single ventricle heart warriors depend on how well the research is funded.

Companies put more money into research for adult heart disease because there is higher potential return. Brilliant researchers also want to create breakthroughs for kids and grown-ups who were born with heart defects, but they rely much more on fundraising by heart families. 

Striver and Bridge are our whole world. It can be hard to stop and reflect in the busyness of life, but every day we spend with these precious nuggets is a blessing beyond measure. 

Striver's anatomy is stable at this time. He gets tired sometimes, and dehydrated now and then in the Florida heat, but all his check ups show his lil' body is doiing well. 

Things may become more uncertain when his body grows into a teenager and new demands are placed on his single ventricle. The same is true for adulthood. If he were older right now and needed intervention, there are medications and minor procedures that can help a little, or the last resort is a risky heart transplant. But researchers are working on better options. 

People with Striver's particular "Fontan" circulation (the way his veins and arteries are arranged after having the Norwood, Glenn, and Fontan surgeries) have a weaker blood flow that can damage the liver, kidneys and other organs over time. Researchers are developing technologies that can change this, avoiding organ damage and relieving some stress on the single ventricle. It can mean much longer life!

Our biggest hope is that these technologies are around when Striver needs them. That's why we need to raise money. Thank you for being part of this. We can't tell yo uhpw much it means to us.
