Stella was diagnosed at 2 years old with Mitral Valve Disease. At just 3 years old, Stella underwent two life-saving open-heart surgeries. She has a mechanical heart valve, which will need to be replaced as she grows. Stella is also an ischemic stroke survivor and lives with a resulting brain injury. Because of these challenges, she will need many more procedures and ongoing medical care throughout her life, much of which depends on future medical advancements.
Now 8 years old, Stella wants to encourage others to support the Denver Congenital Heart Walk. By walking and fundraising for the Children’s Heart Foundation, we can help advance critical research so kids like Stella can receive the care they need to grow up strong and healthy.
