Thank you for visiting our team page! Every 15 minutes, a baby in this country is born with a congenital heart defect, making CHDs America's most common birth defect. The Congenital Heart Walk is dedicated to raising funds to support The Children's Heart Foundation's mission: to advance the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of CHDs by funding the most promising research.

We walk in honor of our heart hero, Isaac.  Isaac is a happy two-year-old who loves to walk, run, climb, play and get himself into all sorts of mischief! Isaac has Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome, a significant heart defect in which the left side of his heart is very small.  As an infant he had two open heart surgeries to help reroute blood flow through the heart, and he will have another heart surgery within the next few years.  These surgeries are vital as they help prolong Isaac's life, but do not solve the issue that he only has half of a working heart.  This is where supporting CHD research comes into play- we will ALWAYS be waiting for new strategies and technologies to come along that will help give Isaac the best chance at enjoying a full, happy and healthy life.

During his second heart surgery, Isaac was a participant in a stem cell trial for HLHS babies. The initial funding for this research trial was through the support of the Children's Heart Foundation! We are so grateful for the opportunity Isaac had to participate in the trial and hope that its findings help Isaac and other heart warriors and families for years to come!
