Congenital heart defects are the most common birth defect in the United States, as nearly 1 out of 100 babies are born with a CHD. 

When we were 20 weeks pregnant with Wesley, we found out he has Congenitally Corrected Transposition of the Great Arteries with dextrocardia. He had three heart procedures in his first year of life. When he was 10 months old, we traveled to Wisconsin where Wesley underwent the 10-hour Double Switch open heart procedure, essentially re-wiring his entire heart. By the grace of God, it was very successful.

Wesley is a testament to how far heart procedures have come and is a living miracle. The Double Switch is a newer procedure, and has only been around for the last 10 years, which shows how imperative research and innovation are for this special group of heart babies.
