Celebrating 50 Years of Caring - All Donations Welcome!

The Air Force Assistance Fund is a program hosted BY Airmen FOR Airmen. Your campaign contributions lend critical support to Airmen, Guardians, and their families — Active Duty, Guard, Reserve, and retired, officers and enlisted. Please see below for a short description of the four AFAF sanctioned charities.

The Air Force Assistance Fund Charities

Air Force Aid Society

The Air Force Aid Society (AFAS) has been meeting the unique needs of Airmen and their families since 1942. Our founder, General Henry H. “Hap” Arnold, created a relief organization that emphasized the ideal of Airmen helping Airmen. Since then, AFAS works every day to support and enhance the U.S. Air Force mission by providing emergency financial assistance and on-base community programs. Our mission now extends to include our newest service branch – the U.S. Space Force Guardians and their families.

Air Force Enlisted Village

The Air Force Enlisted Village (AFEV) mission is simple: To Provide a Home. No one should be homeless or living in less than desirable conditions, yet it sometimes happens to our enlisted Air Force widows. When the surviving spouses of retired enlisted Air Force members come to us in need, we offer the hand of kindness and the gift of a home.

Since 1975, AFEV has provided a safe, comfortable home to thousands of military widows. Housing is available at Bob Hope Village, our independent living community, or at Hawthorn House, our assisted living and memory care residence. Here they renew friendships, share memories of military life, and live as a community with their pride and independence intact. Amenities and conveniences such as transportation, prescription pick up service, fitness activities, social events and more are available to ensure the health and well-being of all residents.

Air Force Villages Charitable Foundation

In 1970, Air Force Village opened the doors to its beautiful retirement community in San Antonio, Texas, and for decades it has remained true to its core charitable mission: to care for the widowed spouses of retired Air Force officers.

Your gifts to the Air Force Assistance Fund have helped provide more than 600 surviving spouses in financial need with a safe, comfortable home, where they are surrounded by caring friends and staff. These are patriots who served their country alongside their military spouses, and through no fault of their own, have outlived the money they set aside for retirement. Many have been financially and emotionally devastated by a spouse’s catastrophic illness. We serve them in confidentiality so they can enjoy this secure lifestyle with friends who do not know of their misfortune. We offer the level of support they require to be safe and healthy in our continuum of care.

General and Mrs. Curtis E. LeMay Foundation

The LeMay Foundation was created by General LeMay in 1987 to provide assistance to widows of Air Force retirees. General and Mrs. LeMay wanted the assurance that the active duty servicemen, the retiree and their families are succored. We stay true to the vision of our founders by providing a comfortable solution for a spouse to stay in their home. Today, we strive to keep their mission alive.

Our duty is to keep these spouses in their homes where they supported their families during active duty and throughout their retirement years. We provide assistance with monthly grants for day to day living expenses. One-time relief is also available to compensate for unexpected expenses such as minor home repairs, medical and dental costs, prescription needs, moving fees, and mortgage or rent delinquencies. Last year, we provided over $473,400 in aid.
