Elliott was born with Pulmonary Atresia/hypoplastic right heart syndrome a congenital heart defect that requires multiple surgeries to "fix" the blood flow. Babies with blue hearts do not get enough oxygenated blood to their bodies. Elliott's first surgery was at 15 days old and rerouted the blood to pulmonary arteries. At the second surgery he was 4 months old and this rerouted blood from the top half of his body to the pulmonary arteries. He has one additional surgery planned in the future that will reroute the blood from the bottom half of his body and completely bypass the right side of his heart. Elliott is currently almost 4 years old and doing fantastic. He bears his scar with pride!
