This year our family is walking in the Congenital Heart Walk to raise funds for this special foundation. The foundations 30 years of research has driven many treatments and surgical advances. The reasearch and medical advances undoubetly helped Charlies heart journey and we are forever grateful. 

Charlie was diagnosed with her heart defects in utero at our 20 week anatomy scan with Transposition of the Great Arteries (TGA), Atrial Septum Defects (ASD) and Ventricular Septum Defects (VSD.) Her surgery at birth switched the Aorta and Pulmonary arteries and patched most of the defects/holes.  Her second open heart surgery at 3 years old placed a patch on her a restricted artery. 

Now at 5 years old, Charlie is full of silly vivacious personality. She loves twirling in ballet, singing loudly to songs she makes up along the way, spinning herself dizzy on the swings, playing dress up and wearing some fabulously girly outfits, swimming with her mermaids, playing baby dolls with her sister between rough housing and chasing each other around the backyard. 

We are so very fortunate that Charlie had the medical care she had in utero, as a newborn and continues to receive. The research, surgeries and treatment truly saved her life.

We hope to not only raise funds for CHF but continue to teach Charlie how strong she is- our little champ!
