We're truly grateful for your visit to our team page!
Three years ago, Maylie was born with a critical congenital heart defect. She had an interrupted aortic arch (her aorta completely disconnected from the rest of her body), and an aortopulmonary window (blood going from the aorta into the pulmonary arteries). By the time she got imaging at 2 days old, she was already in heart failure. Early screening and heroic interventions over days, weeks, and months, by the team at Randall Children's Hospital mean she is here with us today - a happy ending many heart families do not get.
All of the research that underlies the many interventions Maylie has received has to be funded somehow, and much of it has been funded, in full or in part, by the Children's Heart Foundation. At this time when federal funding is more precarious, organizations like the Children's Heart Foundation are still dedicated to making an impact.
The Congenital Heart Walk is dedicated to making this impact continue. Our mission is clear—we aim to raise funds to support The Children's Heart Foundation's quest to advance the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of CHDs by funding groundbreaking research that improves outcomes, reduces complications, and helps Heart Warriors live longer, healthier lives.
By supporting our team or walking with us, you show support for Maylie and the many other children facing this very common birth defect - contributing to research that can save and enhance the lives of infants born with CHDs, as well as children and adults living with these conditions. Together, we're part of a 30-year story of hope—and we're writing the next chapter. Y=
