This year’s Congenital Heart Walk feels especially meaningful as The Children’s Heart Foundation celebrates 30 years of funding life-saving congenital heart defect research. For 30 years, research has helped change what it means to be born with a congenital heart defect—giving Heart Warriors more treatment options, better outcomes, and the opportunity to live longer, fuller lives.
For families like mine, this research is more than numbers, studies, or medical advancements. It is hope. It is more birthdays, more milestones, more first days of school, and more tomorrows with the children we love.
That is why I walk.
I walk for the Heart Warriors who have endured surgeries, procedures, hospital stays, and countless appointments. I walk for the families who have stood beside them through some of the hardest moments imaginable. I walk in memory of the Heart Angels who are forever loved and never forgotten. And I walk because I believe the next 30 years of research can change even more lives.
